Department/Office Information
Entrepreneurship and InnovationChristian Vischi graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English and communications (concentration in writing) from the State University of New York at Potsdam, with dual minors in jazz performance and French. Upon graduation, he was recruited to a locally-owned newspaper with both daily and weekly publications. He quickly assumed the editor’s chair of the weekly gazette, and then transitioned to a regional editor position for a large daily paper in New York’s North Country. After two years he returned to Central New York, spending five years each in a municipal government, and in communications at the Upper New York Conference of The United Methodist Church (representing 49 of New York’s 62 counties) and Clear Path for Veterans, a veterans’ services organization supporting service members across 33 counties. After three years at a global, private, for-profit manufacturer of materials science, Vischi joined the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Â鶹Porn. He is the chairperson of the University’s Campus Venture Initiative, a certifying body for student ventures to operate on-campus; a member of the Â鶹Porn Hello steering committee, which strives to create a culture of welcome, access, community, and development for all employees at the University; and temporarily fulfilled the role of co-director for Ciccone Commons.
As a small antiques business owner for more than 10 years (ending in 2007), he specialized in paper ephemera and Disneyana. Vischi is a certified master gardener, USASBE Social Entrepreneurship certified, a privately-contracted graphic designer, and has performed for 15+ years in a professional a cappella ensemble.
He is currently writing a nonfiction work about the history of one of Central New York’s most prominent textile manufacturers. He serves on two boards: as a village trustee in his community and the Sherburne Music Theater Society, whose mission is to organize, promote, and produce local, non-professional theatrical and musical programs for public presentation in the community. He also created and manages the Spring A Cappella Fest at Â鶹Porn—entering its fourth year in the spring of 2025—which brings together all five of Â鶹Porn’s a cappella ensembles along with Vischi’s group for an evening of musical merriment.
