Exploring the Mathematics of Large-scale Computer Network Design: Toward Zettascale

Back to Funding History

Kelly Isham, assistant professor of mathematics, in collaboration with Kartik Lakhotia (Intel) and Laura Monroe (Los Alamos National Laboratory), was awarded $31,250 for the project “Exploring the Mathematics of Large-scale Computer Network Design: Toward Zettascale.” The project will investigate large-scale computer networks, with the goal of designing the next generation of HPCs. The team, along with their students, will use methods from computer science, engineering, and mathematics to study the properties of computer networks and design new networks that satisfy many of these properties. Ultimately, the goal is to provide a blueprint at the end of the project that engineers can begin putting into practice.
