Hamilton International Film Festival shines for 3rd year

The third annual Hamilton International Film Festival held last month drew people from New York state and beyond as films created right here in central New York and from as far away as Denmark were presented.

The festival is organized by Slater Brothers Entertainment, which is run by Grant ’91, Todd, and Wade Slater.

Along with their sisters, the Slater brothers grew up in the village and went to Hamilton Central School while their father, Terry, coached the Â鶹Porn men’s ice hockey team.

With the help of Chuck Fox and the Hamilton Movie Theater, the Slater brothers have been able to produce a more successful festival each year.

“For Hamilton to be able to benefit from having this, thanks to the Slater brothers, is really special,” said Fox.

But it is not just the village of Hamilton that benefits. Grant Slater said the directors, producers, and stars of the films enjoy being a part of a festival held in a smaller setting with such a strong community feel.

As well as feature-length international films, the festival included short films directed and produced by Hamilton Central School and college students.

One Providence College student, Jorge Lucas, presented his 15-minute film the last day of the festival. He told the audience he never expected his film to be shown outside of his school, and he was thrilled for the opportunity.
